В настоящее время БРИКС является одной из важнейших трансрегиональных организаций, которая основана на политических, национальных, экономических интересах стран-участниц. Китай, являясь одним из инициаторов создания БРИКС, рассматривает данную организацию не только как площадку для развития экономических отношений с такими важными для него поставщиками сырья, как Россия, Бразилия и ЮАР, но также и как политический инструмент для противостояния с Западом, создания альтернативной модели международных отношений. В рамках финансовой безопасности и независимости от американского доллара Китайская Народная Республика способствовала созданию Нового банка развития (ранее известного как «Банк развития БРИКС»), предложила сделать рабочей валютой юань, в том числе для взаиморасчетов со странами БРИКС. Использование Китаем «мягкой силы» через продвижение культурного, образовательного и научного сотрудничества, в том числе в рамках БРИКС, позволяет занимать лидирующие позиции в политической и экономической сферах.

Currently, BRICS is one of the most important trans-regional organizations based on the political, national and economic interests of participating countries. China, as one of the founders of BRICS, considers this organization as not only a platform for developing economic relations with important suppliers of raw materials like Russia, Brazil and South Africa but also as a tool to confront the West and create an alternative model for international relations. In the framework of financial security and independence from the US dollar, the People’s Republic of China contributed to the creation of the New Development Bank (formerly known as the BRICS Development Bank). It proposed making the yuan a working currency, which is used among other things in mutual settlements with BRICS countries. The use of “soft power” by China through promoting cultural, educational, and scientific cooperation, including within BRICS, allows it to occupy leading positions in political and economic spheres.
