Author Guidelines
General Provisions
Russia and the World: Scientific Dialogue (Russia & World: Ss. Dialogue) accepts for consideration scientific papers, including research insights and scholarly results, discussion articles and reviews in Russian and English from Russian and foreign authors. The journal is created to reflect the latest research of fundamental and applied nature in the field of political science, sociology, world economy, and cultural studies. The substantive and thematic profile of the journal includes topics reflecting international and regional processes, political, economic, social, cultural aspects of international relations, intercountry and intercultural communications, international security and sustainable development.
The editorial board adheres to and acts in full accordance with the codes and international standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
The editors may refuse to consider manuscripts that do not correspond to the profile of the journal, or contain non-original text (unattributed borrowing and self-plagiarism), or drawn up with significant violations of the editorial rules or written in broken English / Russian (by means of automated translation).
Accepted articles are subject to double anonymous peer review, based on the results of which the editorial board makes a decision on publication or rejects the the material.
The volume of the manuscript should not exceed 30.000 characters with spaces, reviews – 15.000 characters. The article should contain the following sections: (1) Title, (2) Information about the authors, (3) Abstract (150-200 words), (3) Keywords, (4) Introduction (with orientation of the reader in relation to the problem, its relevance, goals and objectives of the study), (5) Research methods and data, (6) Results, (7) Discussion, (8) Conclusions, (9) Sources, (10) Figures, tables.
Title should be indicated at the beginning in Russian / in English and should not contain complex abbreviations or links.
Affiliation. All authors should provide the official name of the institution / department they belong to (at the time when of the study).
Abstract. The abstract should be provided in Russian / in English and contain a brief description of research problem, scientific methods applied and the main results and conclusions. The recommended length is 150-200 words (no more than 250).
Keywords. The list should not exceed 10 words and terms (usually 6-7) with a lowercase letter, separated by commas, no period at the end.
Information about the authors in Russian / in English should be sent with the manuscript in separate file or in the text of the letter and must contain full name, academic degree and title, place of employment and current position, address of the place of employment, email address for communication with the author, identification number OCRID. The names of the authors should be indicated with affiliation at the beginning of the manuscript.
Text Formatting
Font: Times New Roman, size 12, line spacing – 1. When using special fonts to convey diacritics or hieroglyphics / with a manuscript, the font must be sent to the editor in a separate file.
Please, use non-breaking space (Shift + Ctrl + Space) in phrases and names that should not be broken when moving to the next line. A non-breaking space is placed in all cases between the initials and the surname – both in the text and in the bibliography; initials should not be separated by spaces.
Headings and subheadings are typed in lowercase letters, uppercase letters are used in accordance with the spelling rules.
Citation, references and footnotes
For in-text citation and references: the author's surname, year of publication of the work and, if necessary, pages are given in brackets: (Petrov 2012, p. 24; Smith 2016, p. 92). For reference to several publications, the names of the authors are given in chronological order separated by semicolons: (Ivanov 2001; Petrov 2005, p. 35). For several works of the same author: (Markov 1976; 1981). For reference to the authors with the same surname, in text sitation should be given with initials: (Ivanov A. 2002; Ivanov B. 2008). For references to two or more works of the same author in the same year, please, cite and refer to with an alphabetic index: (Ivanov 2001(a); 2001(b)). If the work has two authors, in the text their surnames are separated by commas, if three or more – only one should be cited in-text: (Ivanov, Petrov 2018), (Ivanov et al. 2018). If the link is given to the entire article as a whole, then the pages are not indicated. Links may include the title of a book or archive (A history of Greece 1994) or the name of the editor (ed. Jones 1998). If a work is cited in one of the oriental languages, references to it should be supplemented with both transliteration and translation to Russian / English (the name / title in the original graphics can be indicated in a footnotes).
Footnotes are given page by page and with continuous numbering; references to literature in a note are given in the same way as in the main text.
The text should be followed by the list References in alphabetical order. The works of the same author are placed in chronological order, followed by works in co-authorship. Non-breaking space (Shift + Ctrl + Space) is placed in all cases between the initials and the surname – in the text and in the references. Initials are not separated by spaces.
After the title of the cited work in Russian / original language, the English version of the title is given in square brackets (no full stop is placed before the square brackets). It is necessary to give the original translation of the title of works, collections of articles and journals, if available. Self-translation is possible if the cited work does not have a title in English. The publishers are not translated and are given in transliteration (the publishing house Nauka, etc.). An exception is cases when the organization has an official English name.
The titles of the journals are not abbreviated and are given in full. The titles of journals, collections, monographs and archives are given in italics. The city of publication is written in full. The names of the editors of the collections and the pages of the cited articles must be indicated.
The reference list should reflect the related research on which the author relied in his study. The recommended quantity of sources depends on the topic and averagely is not less than 15 and up to 40. Dictionaries, regulations, journalism and social media materials and other non-reviewed sources should be referred to in footnotes without listing in refences.
Non-breaking spase (Shift + Ctrl + Space) is required in all cases between the initials and the surname – in the text and in the references. Initials are not separated by spaces.
Tables, diagrams, pictures
All pictures and photos should be duplicated in separate files (with a resolution of at least 400 dpi in Jpeg format). Diagrams should be editable and contain reference to original tables.
In text, references to figures, diagrams, tables are given in parentheses in roman type (Figure 1), (Table 1). All figures, tables and diagrams must have the original title in Russian / in English and information about the source, if any.
Miscellaneous
Authors should be guided by these rules and guidelines. Articles prepared without observing these rules can be returned to the authors for revision.
Manuscripts corresponding to the profile of the journa and prepared in accordance with these guidelines after successful double-blind peer review are published free of charge. The editors do not charge authors for preparation, reviewing or publication of manuscripts.
